Wickford Harbor - Guided Tour

Our guided harbor tours are the perfect way to get acquainted with the basics of sea kayaking while experiencing the charm of historic Wickford Village. Accompanied by one of our professional guides you’ll glide through the tranquil waters of Wickford Cove and take in the scenery from a spectacular vantage point. Our fleet includes single and double touring kayaks, which are exceptionally stable and perfect for paddlers of all abilities. Each trip is approximately 3 hours and includes refreshments.

Cost: $40
Trips depart twice daily in July & August (except Sun am.) and weekends and holidays in May, June & Sept.

 


   
  Urban Paddle (New!)

See the beauty and history of the Providence shoreline on our new Urban Paddle. We’ll put in at the Pawtucket Town Landing where the Blackstone and Seekonk Rivers meet, just down from Slater Mill where the American Industrial Revolution began. From there we’ll paddle south towards Providence, past historic Swan Point Cemetery and an array of old historic mills, stop for a snack at Bold Point Park,  and head towards the revitalized Providence riverfront. We will continue on to Waterplace Park and then down to the Hurricane Barrier before taking out at Collier Point. This gentle excursion is perfect for all abilities and uses stable double and single kayaks.

Sunset Paddle - Wickford

Stress dissolves when exposed to water. Take in some spectacular sunset views as we lead you on a tranquil paddle through Wickford Harbor. A perfect way to end your day, or begin your night! This gentle excursion is perfect for paddlers of all abilities.

   Ninigret Sunset Paddle

What a great way to end your day or even your week! Join us in Charlestown on Friday evenings as we take in some terrific sunsets. Don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the most spectacular ponds in Southern Rhode Island! Paddlers of all abilities are welcome to join for this gentle trip.

   Moonlight Paddle

Join us for an evening of paddling magic as we watch the night sky come alive. What a terrific way to experience the wonders of night kayaking under a full moon. The location is Wickford Harbor and the rain date for each event will be the evening immediately following the scheduled date.

   Mother's & Father's Day Paddle

Bring your Mom or Dad for a terrific morning on the water! No experience required. Accompanied by a professional guide you’ll both experience the charm of Wickford Village from our stable fleet of double kayaks. Treat your Mom or Dad to this special paddling experience...you won’t be disappointed. We suggest comfortable clothing that can get wet (just in case!) as well as watersport shoes or old sneakers. We provide everything else for this fun filled trip.

   Seal Watching

The waters around the Wickford area often provide a wonderful opportunity to view harbor seals. Join us for this terrific experience. In our double kayaks, we’ll get close enough to quietly observe but keep plenty of distance so that we don’t disturb. A great way to spend part of a crisp November day.

   Great Swamp Adventure

This trip is an excursion into hidden jungle-like retreats that cannot be reached any other way. We will float into a vast state-owned management area on one river, paddle across a shallow but wide pond, and then finish the trip on another river that snakes its way through dense vine-draped vegetation. Lunch will be enjoyed on a picturesque point jutting out into the pond. There will be no doubt in your mind why this trip is called the Great Swamp adventure.

   Day Trip to Block Island

The fun will start as we head out of the Charlestown Breachway! Destination... North Light on Block Island, approximately 10 miles. After a beach picnic at the lighthouse we’ll paddle up the east side of Block Island under majestic bluffs to Old Harbor where there should be time to enjoy a cooling beverage prior to boarding the ferry for our return to the mainland. This is a true open ocean experience, COMPETENT PADDLERS ONLY. If weather conditions do not permit, The Kayak Centre reserves the right to change the location of the trip.
